CLEVELAND – The response to Horseshoe Casino Cleveland’s call for applications to fill 750 new positions has been nothing short of amazing, casino executives said Tuesday. In the first 24 hours, they’ve received roughly 8,500 applications.
“It’s been great, it’s been an overwhelming response,” said Horseshoe General Manager Marcus Glover. “Very similar to what we saw when we posted our positions for the dealer training academy back in September.”
In that case, the casino received 12,000 applications for 600 positions, a number that will likely be passed in this round by Wednesday.
“It just shows that people are excited about what this casino can be and they want to be a part of it,” Glover said. “We’re tickled and humbled by the overwhelming response that we’ve gotten from Northeast Ohio so far.”
Horseshoe Casino Cleveland will need to fill in all 1,600 positions as they approach their late March 2012 opening. The casino Monday posted more than 40 unique job openings which will yield 750 of those new casino jobs. Horseshoe Cleveland has committed to hire at least 90 percent of its workforce from Northeast Ohio.
“Some newly posted positions do require previous experience, but for many roles, a strong desire to deliver superior customer service with a positive and upbeat attitude is the only quality we will be looking for,” said Karen Kaminski, the casino’s vice president of Human Resources.
Job openings in a variety of departments are now posted on the Horseshoe Cleveland website, and all job descriptions include a starting wage.
