Oprah Winfrey, who made the transition last year from daytime talk show host to cable executive, is making another career move: She will return to acting!

Director Lee Daniels said Oprah will play a significant role in his movie “The Butler.” The film, which starts shooting in July, is “a true story of a man [Eugene Allen] who served several decades in the White House,” Daniels said. “Forest [Whitaker] plays the butler who serves many presidents, and Oprah plays his wife.”

The return to acting marks her first role since 1998′s “Beloved,” which she both starred in and produced. Asked how he will prepareto direct Winfrey, Daniels said, “I don’t know. Quietly,” according to the story. Daniels said he wrote the role of the wife for Oprah, who produced his Oscar-winning movie “Precious,” according to the story, which notes that Oprah isn’t producing “The Butler.” The movie will be filmed in New Orleans.
