CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –
A man whose infant son choked on a baby wipe has pled guilty to felony child endangering.
Joshua Rains was arrested back in November after his son was rushed to the hospital because a baby wipe was shoved down the baby’s throat.
The injuries were so severe, the baby was on life support. The baby is ok now.
Rains told police that he had wiped the baby’s mouth with the wipe and then the wipe disappeared. Rains stated that he tried to retrieve the wipe, but he only pushed it down further.
Police didn’t buy the father’s statement and say the child’s injuries are not consistent with his statement.
There was another incident when the baby was only five days old. The infant suffered a detached eye lens, but wasn’t reported to police.
Rains will be sentenced later this month.
