CLEVELAND – Crews demolished much of a building on Kinsman Road in Cleveland after a fire Wednesday evening.

The fire was reported just before 4 p.m. Wednesday. Fire officials at the scene said it spread from one church to a dress shop, the Golden Light Chinese restaurant and another church.

“Anytime you have three buildings go up really quickly, you know, you might suspect something be added to it,” Cleveland fire spokesman Larry Gray said. He hesitated to describe the fire as suspicious, but said it will be investigated.

Cleveland fire officials said no injuries were reported.

“I’m heartbroken. I’m heartbroken for the people who have businesses in this area,” said Maryalice Johnson, whose family has owned the building for 40 years.

“The pastor was in the church at the time and he was getting ready to leave, and he said he heard an explosion,” Johnson said.
