LAKEWOOD, Ohio – Lakewood police are investigating after a woman was found dead in an apartment Thursday morning.
At about 10 a.m., officers responded to the Elbur Manor apartments at 13531 Detroit Ave. for a report of a missing woman. Police said when they entered an apartment, they found the woman dead in a closet.
According to Lakewood police, a man is in police custody in connection. Lakewood Mayor Michael Summers said officers are questioning the suspect in what appears to be a domestic situation.
The death was ruled suspicious, police said. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations and the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s office are aiding in the investigation.
The victim’s name has not been released, pending notification of the family.
Police say the name of the man in custody may be released Friday.
The apartment building is across from St. Edward High School.
