On Monday, Nov. 11, the country will mark Veterans Day — a day to honor those who have served in the armed forces.

Many restaurants and businesses will honor veterans with free meals, appetizers, car washes and other deals. The following deals have been verified for 2013. Note, some deals are for Monday, others are for different days.

First, let’s start with a deal that is valid for everyone. Get free admission to national parks across the country on Nov. 9-11: http://www.nps.gov/findapark/feefreeparks.htm

Great Clips will give veterans a free hair cut on Nov. 11. If YOU get your hair cut on Nov. 11, they’ll give you a coupon to give to a veteran for a free hair cut from Nov. 11 to Dec. 31. Details: http://www.greatclips.com/promotions/veterans-day

Carrabba’s is offering all active duty personnel and retired veterans a free appetizer on Nov. 9-11. You will need proof of service such as military ID or dressing in your uniform. Check your nearby location to make sure they are participating: http://www.carrabbas.com/Locator

Veterans (and active duty personnel) get a free lunch or dinner, up to $12, at Bar Louie on Nov. 10 AND Nov. 11. Proof of service required. Dine-in only. http://www.barlouieamerica.com

Anyone who has served in the U.S. military eats free at Golden Corral on Nov. 11 from 4-9 p.m. No ID required. Dine-in only. http://www.goldencorral.com/ *Note, even though the website says no ID required, Jeff says they asked him for ID last year.

All veterans get a free meal from a special menu on Nov. 11 at Olive Garden. Family dining with the veteran also get 10 percent off. Military families get 10 percent off every day in November. Details: http://www.olivegarden.com/Menu/Specials/

Vets get free lunch at TGI Fridays on Nov. 11. Sadly, the website doesn’t offer any more details. Call your local location for details: http://www.tgifridays.com/ (Last year the deal was only offered from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., so check before you go.)

Get a free doughnut and small coffee at Krispy Kreme on Nov. 11. You’ll need to present your military ID or wear your uniform for the free treat. No purchase neccesary. Not valid at grocery or convenience stores. You may have to pay sales tax. http://www.krispykreme.com/VeteransDay

Einstein Bagels is giving veterans and active duty military a free bagel and shmear, or any other topping, on Nov. 11. Offer valid from 5:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thanks to Kristina for this tip.
