ROCKY RIVER, OH (WOIO) –

In January the Rocky River started to thaw and large pieces of ice took out docks.

Then, it got cold again.

When the mercury drops a second time the water could flood over the banks.

“We are worried because this is a very unusual phenomenon right now. It’s never been like this before,” said Marty Kennedy a Rocky River Resident.

Kennedy, who has lived along the river for 50 years, has seen four major floods and she is taking precautions and evacuating her family.

“The ice broke up earlier and we did get water in the yard. Now there are chunks all the way to the bottom of the river and that’s not going to move.”
