CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

New papers have been filed in a federal lawsuit over the 2012 Cleveland Police chase that involved dozens of police cars and ended with officers shooting and killing two people while firing 137 shots.

The lawsuit has just been amended or expanded to hold the city more accountable. Initially, when the suit was filed last November, it focused on the officers involved — 13 fired the shots.

Now the suit includes a section highlighting what lawyers call “a systemic failure of the Cleveland Police Department, its supervisory officers and the city of Cleveland.”
