Crooner Miguel apologized for his DUI conviction last year following his court appearance last week, reports NME.

Los Angeles police arrested the entertainer in August for driving under the influence. He reportedly failed multiple sobriety tests, his breathalyzer readings a .10 and .11 — over the .08 legal limit.

In court, the artist — born Miguel Pimentel — pled no contest to the charges and was sentenced to informal probation for three years, plus an alcohol education class and a $360 fine.

“Driving with alcohol in my system was reckless,” Miguel said in a statement after his sentencing. “I’m really sorry and I’m taking responsibility for this mistake.”
