An Ohio mom killed herself hours after her 14-month-old son mysteriously died at their home, police said.
Kayelisa Martin, 20, allegedly committed suicide by walking in front of a semitrailer on busy Interstate 77 in Canton. It reportedly happened after cops found her little boy Omoyele Gonzalez dead in his bed at her Canton apartment. Investigators are now trying to piece together exactly what happened.
The Canton Repository reveals officers were called to the property to reports of Martin threatening suicide just after 7:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, a relative went to the nearby Canton Fire Station No. 7 to report that the toddler was dead. However, when cops arrived at the home, Martin had gone missing. They tried to find her, but were soon informed she had “committed suicide by walking in front of a moving vehicle at milepost 115 near Akron-Canton Airport.”
Stark County Coroner’s office conducted an autopsy on the toddler, who had no obvious injuries when first discovered Saturday. Initial results have proved inconclusive. “Preliminary autopsy findings showed that the child did not die of any trauma,” coroner P.S. Murthy said in a statement.
