AKRON, OH (WOIO) –

When you put money in The Salvation Army’s Red Kettles, you can expect change. The dollars, quarters, nickels, dimes and pennies all add up to positive change in our community, but so far this year, the numbers are not adding up locally. According to Major David Dunham, Area Coordinator for The Salvation Army of Summit County, kettle giving is down to date.

“Barring a last minute miracle, kettle revenue will be down from previous years,” said Major Dunham. “With two days to go, we’re asking the generous people of our community to step up and help us meet our goal.”

Dunham notes that missing the goal could mean that The Salvation Army will not be able to assist as many people as usual in the coming year.

The good news? There’s still two days to help The Salvation Army meet its goal. The Red Kettles will be at over 45 locations throughout Summit County through 1 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Or, you can send a donation directly to our offices at 190 South Maple Street, Akron, Ohio 44302, call 1-800-SAL-ARMY or via our online red kettle at www.salvationarmyakron.org.
