CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

The Cleveland Browns on Monday signed QB Austin Davis to the 53-man roster and signed OL Garth Gerhart and DL Dylan Wynn to the practice squad.

In addition, the club placed DB Charles Gaines (hamstring) on injured reserve – designated for return.

Davis is 6-2, 221-pounds and in his fourth NFL season out of Southern Mississippi. Originally signed by St. Louis as an undrafted free agent in 2012, Davis made his NFL debut last year appearing in 10 games (eight starts) with the Rams. He completed 180 of 284 passes (63.4 percent) for 2,001 yards with 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He set USM single-season and career records for passing yards, touchdowns and completion percentage. A native of Collinsville, Miss., Davis graduated from West Lauderdale High School.

Gaines, a sixth round pick this year, will be eligible to return to practice Week 6 and eligible to play Week 8.
