Sasha Bell and Sacorya Reed were both shot to death in Bell’s townhouse. Police have a suspect in custody.

Sasha Bell, the 19-year-old mother who was the first person from Flint to sue the city for poisoning thousands of its residents, was found dead in her apartment, New York Daily News reports.
Bell, along with a second woman, Sacorya Reed, were both shot to death last week in the Ridgecrest Village apartment complex.
Police found a 1-year-old that was injured, but refuse to confirm if Bell was the child’s mother. The unidentified baby was taken into custody by Genesee County Children’s Protective Services, MLive reported.
“Sasha was a lovely young woman who cared deeply for her family, and especially for her young child,” her attorney, Corey M. Stern, said, according to MLive. “Her tragic and senseless death has created a void in the lives of so many people that loved her. Hopefully, her child will be lifted up by the love and support from everyone who cared deeply for Sasha.”
Bell was one of the first people to file a lawsuit in connection to the Flint water crisis after she claimed that her 16-month old son had been a victim of lead poisoning. Since she came forward, her case represents one of the 64 lawsuits filed on behalf of 144 children by Stern’s firm, New York-based Levy Konigsberg, and Flint-based Robinson Carter & Crawford.
Police admit to having a suspect in custody for the double murder, but no official charges have been filed yet, MLlive wrote.
Meanwhile, according to a separate MLlive report, the community has been reeling since learning of the women’s deaths, which occurred two days after a mother and her 9-year old son were also killed in town.
Anquan Lee, 21, said his family knew the women pretty well and that’s it’s “hard to imagine who would do this.”
“They were good people. I just can’t believe it – who would do something like that,” he told MLive. Another resident, Roberta Dunson, said this type of behavior is out of character for the complex. “Because, it’s so quiet out here,” she stressed.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise money for their funeral costs.
