CHICAGO (WLS/CNN) – Chicago’s new top cop is spending his Memorial Day weekend on the streets amid a new wave of deadly violence in the crime-plagued city.
At least four people were killed and dozens more wounded in Chicago shootings since Friday.
No one has been arrested in connection to the deaths.
Superintendent Eddie Johnson, who officially became Chicago’s top cop last month, says any violence in the city is unacceptable.
And he says police need help from the public to end the violence.
“I like coming out and talking to the people, so I think that goes a long way to help rebuilding the trust between the police and the community. We do have some persons of interest that we are looking at,” Johnson said.
Chicago police are expected to release full weekend crime numbers Tuesday.
