Joe Jackson reportedly has been hospitalized with terminal cancer, according to new reports. The 89-year-old talent manager and father of the famed Jackson family has been visited by several family members, including his wife, Katherine, and some of his children and grandchildren, TMZ reported Friday.
The famous patriarch, who has 11 children, including global icons Michael and Janet, has reached the end stages of his illness, which he had been dealing with for some time.
As far as what kind of cancer that Jackson has, he had been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer, according to The Daily Mail.
Jackson’s cancer is not able to be treated, and doctors have talked to his family, sources told TMZ.
There has been fuss over which family members could visit Jackson, but relatives were eventually allowed to see him after the patriarch’s manager, Charles Coupet, stepped in on Tuesday, according to the Daily Mail. Jackson was described as being on his deathbed, as relatives have been trying to find out everything about his condition. Jackson, who has a home in Las Vegas, had also given verbal instructions barring family members from seeing him and his medical records.
“No one knew what was going on – we shouldn’t have to beg, plead, and argue to see our own father, especially at a time like this,” Jackson’s son, Jermaine Jackson, said, according to the British outlet. ‘We have been hurting. We were not being told where he was and couldn’t get the full picture. Even from the doctor. My mother was worried sick.”
Jackson is known for having guided his children, including Janet Jackson and the late and great Michael Jackson, to unprecedented showbiz success. He managed The Jackson 5 before Michael Jackson launched his super-successful solo career as the King Of Pop.
He was understood to have suffered from a form of dementia and having dealt with several strokes in recent years.
