AKRON, OH (WOIO) –

Police say a man traveling at 90 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour zone crashed into an Akron cemetery, destroying several grave sites.

The crash was reported Tuesday just before 6:30 p.m. at the Holy Cross Cemetery located on East Waterloo Road.

The driver, identified as 20-year-old Robert Miller, lost control of his vehicle as he was driving at a high-speed.

Witnesses told Akron police that Miller struck a curb, went through a fence, and flipped into several graveyard stones.

He flew by me, like I was standing still,” said Paul Wilson, who saw the crash and called police.

His wife, Sandy Wilson, said she was afraid the driver would lose control of the truck, after she saw how fast he seemed to be going.
