With the Cleveland Browns first pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, they took cornerback Joe Haden. Check out what he will look like in a Browns jersey.

Haden most likely was rated the best player available to the Browns with the No. 7 overall pick, and that’s not a bad thing because the Browns need a lot of help in their secondary.

With all the trading going on in the first round, it can be surmised the Browns were looking for a tradedown, but just couldn’t find a partner willing to trade that far up in the first round.

That’s speculation though, so sticking to what we do know, Haden is well-liked by everyone in the Browns front office.

“You can never have too many good corners,” said head coach Eric Mangini in a postdraft interview, reported on the Orange and Brown Report.

That is the key statement to remember about this pick. Mangini spent way too much time last year watching his corners and safeties get torched, and it’s not a stretch to say Mangini was probably vocal in draft preparation about not letting that happen again.

There’s not much more to say at this point about Haden, he’s a solid prospect and projects well. The Browns didn’t reach and the instant draft reaction should be positive.

We’ll see how everyone feels in a few years.

As for Day Two and the next few rounds, the Browns have four picks tonight, one in the second round and three in the third. Colt McCoy and Jimmy Clausen still are on the board with quarterback being a definite need.

Given the fact the Browns did not try and trade back up into Round One, don’t expect them to try and move up a few slots to make sure they get a quarterback. However, it is not a reach to say the Browns take McCoy if he’s still on the board at No. 38.

With the Third Round picks, the Browns probably will seek more depth on the defense and probably an offensive lineman for the right side of the line. If a quarterback isn’t taken in the second round, expect to see one taken in the third.

Tony Pike is a good candidate at that point.

It was a crazy first day of the draft, what surprises is Day Two going to bring?
