Local Mayor Charged With Petty Theft & More
The Warrensville Heights Mayor Was Charged On Tuesday
A local mayor is dealing with legal troubles that stem back to 2018.
Warrensville Heights Mayor Brad Sellers has been charged with tampering with records and petty theft. Reports suggest the alleged crimes occurred on July 3, 2018.
The mayor is scheduled to be arraigned Sept. 18.
FOX 8’s investigative team discovered that Sellers signed a document that gave him a property tax break, a perceived conflict of interest given his position.
From FOX 8:
Back in January 2022, we asked Sellers directly about giving himself a tax break and asking if that was a conflict of interest.
At that time, Sellers responded by saying, “no, that’s where you’re mistaken on this point.”
Mayor Sellers also allegedly has fallen behind on paying his property taxes twice in the last six years.
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
