”This is home for me. I love this place. I love Akron, Ohio, to death. Every day I wake up, I understand that I’m not only carrying myself as an individual, but I’m carrying the city. No matter where life may head me throughout my whole life, I’m never gone from here.” -Lebron

LeBron James, Akron’s favorite son, professed his love and commitment to the city of Akron as he accepted his NBA Most Valuable Player Award May 2 at James A. Rhodes Arena on The University of Akron campus.

But will he or won’t he remain a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers and stay in Northeast Ohio?

That question is not only on the minds of many Akronites and other Northeast Ohioans, but of basketball fans from all over the world. Will the NBA superstar stay with the Cavaliers or sign with another NBA team once he becomes a free agent on July 1?

James’ beloved city and its businesses, educational institutions and residents want to let him know how they feel about him. And they are throwing a big celebration to communicate it loud and clear.
