Sade has garnered the most music category nominations for this year’s 42nd Annual NAACP Image Awards.
Led by Nigerian chanteuse Helen Folasade Adu, the Epic Records act was nominated for Outstanding Female Artist, Outstanding Music Video (‘Soldier of Love’), Outstanding Song (‘Soldier of Love’), and Outstanding Album (‘Soldier of Love’).
Other artists who snagged nominations include Maxwell, Alicia Keys, Usher, Beyoncé, Kanye West, Rihanna, Willow Smith, and Nicki Minaj.

Sade, which includes fellow band members Stuart Colin Matthewman (guitar), Paul Spencer Denman (bass), and Andrew Hale (keyboards), has produced such eternally memorable albums as ‘Diamond Life’, ‘Promise’, and ‘Stronger Than Pride’, just to name a few.
Not only a mega talent, she is also one of the most interesting singers to emerge within the last 30 years. Her ability to communicate powerful messages of love and truth in her music in a way that transcends time and space, in addition to her mystique, and of course distinctive voice, have resulted in her legendary status.
Sade, who will celebrate her 52nd birthday this Sunday, returned to the music scene last year after an almost 10-year hiatus with the release of ‘Soldier of Love.’ In response to her highly anticipated return, Sade’s dedicated fans gave the band its first No.1 debut on the Billboard 200, with 502,000 copies of the ‘Soldier’ album sold in its first week.
2010 saw many public appearances for the singer, who generally avoids the media spotlight. Sade was seen on the ‘Wanda Sykes Show,’ BET’s ‘106 & Park,’ and the ‘Ellen DeGeneres Show’ among other high profile venues.
And speaking of venues, a world tour was recently announced, with the North American leg of the tour kicking off June 16 in Baltimore, Maryland.
