Police in in Georgia arrested a 92-year-old man they say killed his wife by stabbing her in the chest with what was believed to be a letter opener.

Paramedics were originally called to Noel Morgan’s Columbus, Georgia, home on Wednesday on a call of a possible heart attack.

But there, they found that his 90-year-old wife Annie Morgan had been stabbed in the chest.

She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, but pronounced dead later on Wednesday night. An autopsy concluded that the woman’s aorta had been punctured by a sharp object, possibly a letter opener.

Police arrested Morgan’s husband late Friday, two days after the paramedics were called. Noel Morgan pleaded not guilty during his first court appearance Saturday in the murder of his wife.

During the appearance, Morgan reportedly sat in a wheelchair due to his inability to stand for a long period of time.
