Underrated R&B diva Tamia will return early next year with her first studio album since 2006′s ‘Between Friends‘. According to the powerhouse vocalist herself, she’s about “seven songs in” on the new disc, which will contain mainly mid-tempos, but also a few of her trademark ballads. Confirmed writers and producers for the new album so far include Chuck Harmony (Chrisette Michele, Rihanna’s “Russian Roulette”), The Runners (Mario, Usher), Claude Kelly (Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera) and Carvin & Ivan (Jill Scott, Keyshia Cole).

The new Tamia album is a bit of a shock considering that she recently formed a female R&B supergroup called The Queen Project with fellow divas Kelly Price and Deborah Cox, but the project has now been put on the back-burner due to scheduling conflicts and time constraints.

The new album will be out early next year, with a single due out before the end of 2010.

Anybody who listens to Tamia knows that she’s probably one of the best contemporary R&B vocalists of the past fifteen years, and her albums are always fantastic, so the new one will definitely be something to look out for. She just better not forget the gays when it comes to those divariffic club remixes that she’s notorious for!

You can check out Tamia flawlessly performing two of her biggest hits, “Stranger In My House” and “Officially Missing You”, at Summerstage about a week-and-a-half-ago. Pic & video credit to Toyaz-World and Tamia-Fans. Source
