Comedian Bill Bellamy has done a lot of things in his multi-faceted career, from appearing in movies and on TV to hosting comedy competitions and events. But like most comics, the urge to do standup never gets old. So Bellamy is heading out for some cross-country dates this month to perfect some new routines – and possibly reflect on some old ones.

The New Jersey-born comedian got his start in comedy after doing a routine during a male beauty pageant in which he was compete. Some time later, Russell Simmons caught him during a “Showtime At the Apollo” appearance, and he was tapped for the then-fledgling “Def Comedy Jam.”

Since then, Bellamy has been credited with adding the phrase “booty call” to the national lexicon and seems to be the first black comic called when anyone needs a host – thus his stints on “Last Comic Standing” and his own “Bill Bellamy’s Who’s Got Jokes.”
