CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

The Browns returned to a theme they’re all too familiar with in their opener against Cincinnati, find a way to lose. Cleveland held a 17-13 lead in the fourth quarter when the inexplicably were slow to get out of the a huddle on a 3rd down.  The Bengal offense was lined up and ready as the Browns players were just breaking their gathering. Quarterback Bruce Gradkowski quickly took the snap and lofted a pass downfield to a wide open A. J. Green for a 41 yard touchdown pass to put the Bengals up for good. Cedric Benson put the game away moments later with a 39 yard scoring run. The Bengals won 27-17.

Joe Haden was the player responsible for Green on the broken play. He had otherwise played an outstanding game, breaking up a series of passes to Bengal receivers.

Gradkowski came on in relief of rookie QB Andy Dalton who did not play in the second half after injuring his right wrist. X-rays were negative and Dalton felt he could play in their next game.

Colt McCoy finished the day 19-40 for 213 yards, two touchdowns and a late interception when the game was out of reach. Benjamin Watson and Evan Moore each caught touchdowns. Peyton Hillis rushed for 57 yards on 17 carries.

The Browns play Indianapolis next week, the Colts were thoroughly beaten by Houston 34-7.
