Gifted basketball star Chauncey Hardy has died at the age of 23. Hardy was brutally attacked and murdered in Romania. He was at a bar when the attack occurred. His head wounds were so severe that he was already comatose by the time he arrived at a Bucharest hospital.
The young basketballer suffered two heart attacks before succumbing to death after surgery Sunday. Hardy’s talent on the courts was evident during his days of at Sacred Heart, the second-largest Catholic university in New England.
He was quickly recruited for CSS Giurgiu.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of a fine young man who had his life cut short at such a young age while he was overseas doing something he loved,” Sacred Heart Athletic Director C. Donald Cook said in a statement.
