A 57-year-old GlenOak High School guidance counselor was killed in a two car crash Wednesday morning on her way to work.

According to the Ravenna Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol,  James R. Kubitza, 15, was headed east on US 224 and Jennifer Jung-Kilbreath was headed south on SR 43 when the two vehicles collided at the intersection.

Kilbreath was pronounced dead on scene, she was driving a 2009 Suzuki SX4 and was not wearing her seatbelt.

Kubitza was uninjured in the crash. He was transporting three other passengers in a 2005 Ford Taurus at the time of the crash.  James E. Kubitza was uninjured, Rusty Shaffer, 12 and Sydney Kubitza, 11, both received minor injuries.

GlenOak High School told students and staff about the tragic accident Wednesday and dismissed everyone for the day.  A message was posted on the Plain Local School District’s website late Wednesday morning:

“We received sad news this morning that glenoak high school guidance counselor, jennifer jung-kilbreath, was tragically killed in a car accident.  We are currently working to share the message with students and staff.   Additional counselors are available at the high school to assist with any student and staff member needs. Students needing transportation home from the high school are requested not to drive.  Parents may pick up any student needing to go home.  Parents are requested to sign out their student in the main office located at door #1 across from the library”

The crash remains under investigation by the Ravenna Highway Patrol . Anyone who witnessed the accident is acked to contact the Ohio State Highway Patrol at 330.297.1441
