WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama will visit Lorain County Community College today in Elyria to discuss the economy.

The White House said the president is expected to deliver his remarks around 2:30 p.m. to an eager audience.

The event will not be open to the public.

All Elyria City Schools and the administration center will be closed.

The White House is billing this as an official visit, not a campaign stop. Though the president does have scheduled fundraisers later today in Detroit.

The visit to the college isn’t the first for Obama. In Jan. 2010, he visited LCCC as part of his “White House to Main Street Tour.” Obama was most recently in Columbus touting his energy plan in late March.

Meanwhile, Ohio’s unemployment rate was 7.6 percent in February, down from 7.7 percent in January, according to data released this morning by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. The U.S. unemployment rate for February was 8.3 percent, unchanged from January.

Republican front runner MItt Romney will be in Cleveland on Thursday campaigning.
