CLEVELAND — The name of the woman whose body was recovered from a suspicious house fire was released Tuesday.

According to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office, Davida Burns, 42, of Cleveland, was the victim.

The cause of death was blunt force injuries to the head.  It was ruled a homicide.

Burns’ body was found in the basement of an East 121st Street home Friday afternoon.

At the time of the house fire, a neighbor’s garbage can was also burning. Police have taken it as part of the investigation.

“They took my garbage can as evidence because the stuff that was in my garbage can was not mine. It was like clothing. I really couldn’t tell actually what it was because it was burnt. But I know it did not belong to me,” said Lakethia Scott.

Neighbors said the home has been vacant for the past few months.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cleveland Police Homicide Unit.
