(BlackMediaScoop) As the FBI investigation into the shooting death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, was unfolding, both the New York Times and Washington Post reported that federal charges against officer Darren Wilson were unlikely. The investigation is now over, and it doesn’t look like much has changed: The “Justice Department has begun work on a legal memo recommending no civil rights charges,” reports the New York Times.

Like the earlier reports, this one cites unnamed officials who say the higher threshold in a civil rights case couldn’t be reached. It’s not clear when the Justice Department’s explanation will be released. Meanwhile, Ferguson police have released a new batch of images of the looting that took place after a grand jury chose not to indict Wilson on criminal charges. Police hope to make more arrests and will release more photos weekly.
