CLEVELAND – A Cleveland Police officer was injured in a shooting overnight.

Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams confirms the officer was shot and injured on Ottawa Road near Indiana Avenue.

Williams says officers were responding after a woman walked into the police station to report a domestic dispute with a man she said had weapons.

When officers arrived on Ottawa Road, they entered the home and found the man in a hallway, according to Williams.

At that time, Williams said the suspect opened fire on officers, hitting one officer at least once.

The officer was struck in his protective vest.

Officers returned fire, killing the suspect.
