MENTOR, Ohio–  More than 100 homes in Mentor are without power after heavy winds and rain dropped dozens of trees in the area.

The hardest hit was Mentor Avenue at the intersection with Garfield Road as massive tree limbs knocked down power lines, cutting power to at least a hundred homes and possibly more.

Folks who live in the area say at around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, they heard a loud boom and saw fire in the sky as a transformer burned.

Downed power lines across Mentor Avenue closed it to traffic most of the night. It was reopened at around 6 a.m. with restrictions.
