Four additional suspects believed to be involved in the infamous Cleveland street takeovers in September have been arrested near Columbus.
Not only were the street takeover events annoying to the general public, but they were also dangerous and potentially life-threatening.
FOX 8 reports that Sayvion Lewis, 22; Cameron Parsley, 22; William Whitted, 25; and Deshawn Crane, 28, all from the Columbus area, were arrested this morning (Thursday, Nov. 7).
On September 28 and 29 intersections were blocked off by cars performing stunts in front of small crowds. Public transportation and ambulances were denied and at least one police officer was assaulted.
From FOX 8:
“Since this investigation began, our primary objective has been to conduct a thorough investigation and make arrests to build a case that would hold up in court,” Cleveland Police Chief Dorothy Todd is quoted in the release. “Today’s arrests highlight our commitment to this investigation and the effectiveness of that approach. We are grateful for the partnership with the U.S. Marshals, the Ohio State [Highway] Patrol, the FBI, and the Columbus Police Department, who continuously support our mission to keep our streets safe.”
In addition, Cleveland 19 reports that a 20-year-old “active promoter, organizer and participant” in the illegal events had a $50,000 bond set today. Tyrique Loury, from Garfield, was arrested on Oct. 23.
