Rapper Freeway has been a Muslim since he was a teenager but recently he sat down with CNN’s Soledad O’Brien to express how much it has shaped his life.  CNN will air a special entitled “Unwelcome: The Muslim’s Next Door” which will air Sunday March 27 at 8pm and in it Freeway tells how much his faith means to him, CNN’s Sarah Hoye wrote this:

“My faith means everything to me; it’s the thing that keeps me going every day,” the father of two said. “It’s my core, it’s my soul.”

When he was 14,  Freeway – aka Leslie Pridgen – took Shahada, the Muslim confession to faith.

Since then, he’s had to balance his Muslim faith and his credibility as a hip-hop artist.”

Rarely do we get to hear about the positive side of celebrities, especially rappers, so this example of one man’s conviction to his faith is wonderful to see.  For Sarah Hoye’s complete article on CNN.com click here.
