CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

In Cleveland, one day after city officials announce a new crackdown on gun violence plan, Police Officers were putting the plan into action.

As of Wednesday afternoon, at least 13 people were arrested. All on various kinds of warrants. It is unclear if any guns were recovered, but detectives were questioning each suspect about whether they knew of any illegal guns. Today’s arrest were in the 4th district.

Community involvement and enforcement actions are the key components of the strategy for creating a zero tolerance environment for crime.

The head of the Cleveland Police Union says the city will have folks working the streets encouraging them to talk to the cops and that’s a plus.

“Anytime the community works to help us fight crime is a good thing,” Steve Loomis said.

These targeted actions are already in place. Although naturally officers aren’t revealing exact times of their operations.
