Tyler Perry‘s playing financial savior again.

According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the movie mogul wrote a $5,000 check this week to a Lawrenceville, GA soccer team that lost money from a fundraiser when the team’s coach’s truck was broken into following the event.

“Out of nowhere I got a call from Tyler Perry’s publicist company,” coach Michael Samnik told the Gwinnett Daily Post. “They told me that Tyler Perry had seen the news and that he was very moved by what happened.”

In an incident report filed by Lilburn, Georgia police, officers were called to an establishment called the Oyster Barn on June 9. A witness told police they saw a man wearing a motorcycle helmet smash the window of a vehicle belonging to the Gwinnett Soccer Association coach.

Samnik, who coaches the Phoenix Red U-16 team, told police all the money the team raised at a fundraiser was taken. The incident report stated that more than $2,400 in cash was stolen.

Besides Tyler Perry, Church’s Chicken also reached out to the team following the break-in, donating $4,000 as well as lunch.

It was just last month that we reported on Perry surprising middle school students in Ohio by showing up at a musical concert and donating $100,000 to help student athletes in the city’s South-Western schools. Read more about that here.
