Paula Deen still wants the world to know, mostly Black people that she’s sorry and is not a racist. Deen said to the crowd at the South Beach Food & Wine Festival in Miami on Feb. 23, “I am not a quitter,” is regards to rebuilding her career after her racism scandal. explained to the crowd that she’s ready to rebuild her image after being drug through the mud last year with her racism scandal.
“We have come off of a very hard summer my family and I, my team, my partners. But you know, I have heard on more than one occasion … that I’ve never apologized. So if anybody did not hear me apologize, I would like to apologize to those who did not hear me.”
For those of who don’t keep up with the latest and greatest in celebrity racism, last year, Deen and her son, Bubba were accused of being a racists after several employees claimed they heard them using the “N-Word” as well as racist sexual jokes. And if that’s not bad enough, she also segregated the employees and had them using bathrooms based on the color of their skin! Deen has not even denied these accusations. The 67-year-old mistress of butter, deep frying and all things artery-clogging showed that she’s “back on the saddle” by climbing atop Food Network celebrity chef Robert Irvine. Chef Irvine offered Deen advice, “This is a warning to you. You’ve apologized. You’ve eaten crow. You’re done. Don’t do it anymore. I’ve been there.” Yes Irvine has! In 2008, he was exposed for lying on his resume–claiming he’d cooked for the Royal Family and he hadn’t. Woops. But that hiccup hasn’t stopped the “Dinner: Impossible” star and he thinks it shouldn’t stop Deen.
I’m definitely glad that Deen hasn’t given up on life because her personal and offensive views have caused her to become the butt of many a jokes, but she’s lost a considerable amount of endorsements, but according to reports, she’s still got private investment firm Najafi Companies is further helping her pick up steam by investing between $75 million and $100 million for her to make a comeback and develop an umbrella company, Paula Deen Ventures.
