Late Friday afternoon, a Florida jury awarded Hulk Hogan $115 million—$15 million more than he originally asked for—in his sex tape lawsuit against Gawker. But that’s not all the money that he stands to collect as a result of his legal victory.
As if all that money wasn’t enough, the jury just awarded Hogan another $25 million in punitive damages—with $10 million of it coming from Gawker founder Nick Denton and $100,000 of it coming from former Gawker editor A.J. Daulerio. That money will be added on top of the $115 million that Hogan was already awarded, meaning he stands to collect about $140 million total:
Of course, Hogan won’t collect any of that money today. This afternoon, Denton revealed that his legal team had “already begun preparing” for a trip to appeals court. So Hogan is going to have to continue to fight for the money that was awarded to him.
